The ups and downs of setting up an Adult Toys and Lingerie website. 1. Idea 16 months ago i had this great idea with my ex-partner "lets set up a business" and quickly came to the decision that we would sell adult toys and lingerie hooray!
Well i researched everything prices web design companies everything, found a supplier for the sex toys, everything went really smooth. 2. Selection Well seeing as we were getting the stock in we thought lets place a big order because business will be booming straight away.
So we ordered the sex toys firstly we chose the rabbit vibrators then the jelly vibrators we also chose 2 types of Bullets and ordered enough to get us going.
We also had to buy some male sex toys for the site to fill a section, we bought some simple masturbating sex toys then a few different types of realistic vibrating vaginas.
Then there was the lingerie to select as we were going to be called Rachel Ann's adult toys and lingerie, anyway we selected the lingerie which was good whilst keeping our budget in mind. we also knew we had to sell more so we bought some fetish wear and club wear to add to the site.
This still wasn't enough to get going so we ordered anal toys including butt plugs, vibrating butt plugs, anal beads but we still needed more and at this point your budget is starting to become really tight we then got some Dildos, strapons, whips, restraints, general bondage gear just to make the site look fuller.
At this point we still had only a small selection of sex toys, lingerie, fetish wear etc.
3. Descriptions when we had carefully selected the products we wanted that was not the end we had to then give all the sex toys names and descriptions the same with the vibrators, dildos, butt plugs, anal beads, strapons, bondage, sex enhancers that was just the start don't forget we had the Lingerie items to do and fetish wear which was very time consuming especially if you do it all yourself with no help at all(quick dig at the ex-partner) 4. Bills Well whilst still setting up this website to compete in the sex toy industry we had bills to pay but no orders coming which when we first started we were told don't expect any business in the first 6 months????
So i carried on updating the website to make it look good and interesting. 5. Problems Well there wasn't any major problems we just were not getting any orders and could not think why so we tried some advertising and wasted around 800.00 on advertising sex toys and lingerie products still receiving only small amount of orders.
I think the main problem is there are now possibly to many Sex toy online stores a lot of which sell the same stuff or are probably the same company with a different name. 6. Solving the problem Well it came to about the 12 month and surely the business should be at least paying for itself but no it wasn't so drastic measures were need to start selling these sex toys like the rabbit vibrators, butt plugs, anal beads, anal dildos, G-spot vibrators, classic vibrators, jelly vibrators so i moved products around got new suppliers added more sex toys especially vibrators and anal toys more Lingerie which was better quality. Introduced a Leather Wear section and PVC wear which are fantastic, i added sexy shoes and boots, Movies and books just to give customers a better selection.
The main thing we changed though for the customer was free delivery on all sex toys and lingerie because lets face it a lot of sex toy companies sell you the product cheap but slap you with a 5.50 delivery charge and if you don't like the vibrator, butt plug, anal toys, Lingerie, Leather wear you bought then you have got to pay to send it back.
We also kept in place the 10% discount on first orders for all customers buying either a vibrator or any sex toys or lingerie. 7. Getting there Well Rachel Ann's is getting there slowly but surely, I just want a name that people can recognize and trust, never letting them down and remembering the customer is the main priority especially the privacy and that the customer is getting value for there money. 8. Why What i am trying to really say is if you are thinking of setting up a website it aint as easy as it seems, i thought get online and make thousands of pounds and keep people satisfied and feel proud that i offered a great service to customers but trust me people need to know you are there so if you do see this article check us out if there is something you don't like then let us know we will strive to make it better for you, we have a great selection of sex toys for the beginner to the more experienced person and a great selection of Lingerie, Leather wear, Pvc Wear a nd remember free delivery on all sex toys and lingerie.
