Tuning Fast Gas Scooters and an Electric 2 Wheel Scooter - Autos - Motorcycles

Scooter tuning can mean a whole lot of different things. It usually either refers to adding specialty parts for effects or adding specialty parts to change the performance. It is not illegal, but you should really be careful and follow guidelines when you are going to change factory installed settings.

Should you do it yourself?Well, that can be the fun part. My people not only want there scooter to look cooler or be more power, they want to enjoy the process of doing the work themselves. It can be very rewarding hanging out in the garage, tearing your scooter apart, and putting it back together and coming out with a different product. Mission accomplished and it is a nice feeling of accomplishment.

If you are tuning for performance, make sure you know your speed. If you want your wheel to go faster, make sure you have someone take you 0-60 speed. You want to make sure what you did work and it gives you better performance. Things you can modify to get better speed are:

o Using a free flowing air filter. The more air you can force in the faster you will be able to go.o Using a performance exhaust. The fast you can force the air OUT, the fast you can go.o Reconfigure or replace the carburetor or changing the ignition timing.o If you really want to go for it you can try modifying the cylinders and changing the cylinder head and camshaft.

This is high tech stuff, so get help with this one.

How do I find someone to help if I don't want to do it all myself?Try going back to the dealership you bought it from. They will have mechanics there or they will have mechanics they know and recommend. Now, most likely they are not going to do any kind of tuning at the dealership that will void the warranty, but they will most likely know someone that will.

It can be fun tuning your scooter. Just remember a couple of things:

#1 It will most likely void your warranty.#2 Be careful. You don't ruin a brand new scooter because you don't know what you are doing.

So there you go Add that new suspension and teak that engine. Have fun and be safe!
