The aspect on computer memory upgrade is undoubtedly vital in confronting with the world's current changes in the field of computer technology. For faster and efficient computer operation, the speed and memory of computer matter most. Either it is desktop or laptop, what can increase the computer performance is having good compute memory. To stay at par with the present computer age, one must know the basic intricacies of computer mechanics.
There are two important things involved in computer memory. The first one is the Hard Disk Drive or file storage memory, and the second one is the physical memory commonly called as Random Access Memory. The memory considered as the repository of computer files including the installed software is the Hard Disk Memory. Conversely, the main memory where most computer files are placed before they are transferred to any other memory is the Random Access Memory.
The RAM works in this way. Once the computer is mandated to perform specific work, the Central Processing Unit, commonly called as CPU, will direct the Hard Disk Drive to load that work into the memory. The moment the Hard Disk Drive is loaded with the command, the pacing of the CPU in accessing the file is inherently dependent to the storage capacity of the RAM's memory. In simple terms, if the memory capacity of the RAM is high, the computer can perform faster.
Random Access Memory has another term called computer physical memory. These two technical terms are just the same. Likewise, the Hard Disk Drive is also called as the virtual memory of the computer.
Whenever the computer's physical memory runs out of space, to keep the computer's operation, the system will automatically use the virtual memory. The problem with this is that the computer will operate slower than when the RAM is not fully loaded. This is what we call "swapping" where the data being processed are moved from the Random Access Memory to the Hard Disk Drive, and in effect, the computer operation is affected.
Knowing the steps on how to implement computer memory upgrade, particularly the RAM, is very useful. First, shut down the computer. Check the computer unit if there is an extra space for another Random Access Memory. This is because some computer units have limited memory slots. Nonetheless, the modern computer hardware structures are designed with more memory slots that can be found in the motherboard.
Second, choose the desired Random Access Memory size. Presently, RAM capacity usually ranges from one Giga Byte and up. If there is an extra memory slot in the motherboard, just simply insert the additional RAM on it. Otherwise, the existing Random Access Memory must be replaced with another memory that has bigger capacity.
Third, insert the RAM into the memory slot. Be extra careful and don't be in a hurry so as not to spoil the gold contacts of the RAM. After installing the RAM, properly close the case of the CPU.
Lastly, turn on the computer. When a beep-like sound is heard, that means that the RAM was not accurately installed. If such is the case, do the third step again until the installation is properly done, and the computer starts to run.
All told, the value of knowing about computer memory upgrade is very essential. Technology is changing so fast, and man has to be in-step with it. Almost all of the world's operations today are run by highly-advanced computer systems. Further, to compensate the efficiency of every computer worker, constant computer upgrade is a must.
