Real Ways to Save Money on Ford Brake Pads and Other Parts - Autos - Cars

Car repairs can be expensive, and when you need to make repairs on your own Ford or get replacement parts, you'll want to save as much money as possible. There are ways of getting parts for less than what you may see at your local parts store, but it's important to remember to shop smart. You won't want to buy the cheapest parts you see if it means compromising quality or even your safety, which can happen with some inferior replacement parts.

Used or New

There are some parts you simply cannot buy used, and Ford brake pads are one. However you may find other parts you need such as a Ford radiator that has been refurbished or removed from an otherwise totaled car, which is in good working order. This can mean saving a tremendous amount, and in many instances, the used parts will only have some minor wear and tear on them. You can find used or refurbished sites at local salvage shops and when shopping online.

When you purchase used or refurbished parts, be sure you get a warranty of some sort. This will ensure that the seller stands behind the parts and you'll have the confidence in knowing that you'll get replacements or your money back if they fail within a short amount of time. If the seller doesn't offer a warranty, you might want to think about looking elsewhere.

OEM Parts

If you can invest in new parts, choose OEM. It stands for original equipment manufacturer, and these parts of the opposite of generic parts. OEM parts are like brand name parts, and they can be the better option especially for something as important as Ford brake pads. You don't want inferior parts for anything on the car that keeps you safe, including your brakes.

Shopping Online

It may be tempting to run to the nearest junkyard and see if they have a good Ford radiator you can use, but caution is in order when shopping these types of places. Often shopping online is a better option because it usually means that you'll save money over new parts you can purchase in stores. Online auto parts stores will likely also carry a wider variety of the parts you need, such as Ford tail lights from many different suppliers. This is another reason that you can save money shopping online. A physical store has limited shelf space and so they need to pick and choose the suppliers they deal with, whereas a website may offer more variety which in turn means better chances of finding a hard to come by part--and a cheaper price.

Since you can easily find a new Ford radiator and Ford brake pads, along with any other parts you need, for cheaper when you shop online, there really is no reason to risk buying low quality used parts. Take the time to compare the prices you see online versus the ones in physical stores in your area, and you will likely find that this is the best way to afford the parts you need, and still get the quality that will keep your car safe and in good repair.
