Extreme Couponing Fraud - Family

Copyright (c) 2011 Derek Gray

Extreme couponing seems to be the popular thing these days with the way the economy is. Extreme couponers are people who use hundreds of coupons every time they go shopping. The problem is with the individuals who do this are making the economy even worse then it already is.

Now I am not saying that it is wrong to use a few coupons every time you go shopping. It is the people who dedicate 40+ hours a week to finding coupons and figuring out the best way to use them.

Here is why extreme couponers are ruining the economy. First off, it takes a lot of money away from the stores. In order for these stores to get money back from the manufacturers they need to send the coupons in and then normally wait about a month or more to get the money back.

While these stores are waiting for the money they have expenses, they need to pay such as employees, utilities, products, repairs, etc. A lot of these stores do not have the money to wait for them to be reimbursed by the manufacturers. Stores do take coupons into consideration however, when there are hundreds that a person gives for what would be a $500+ trip to the store hurts them badly. Especially with the amount of people who are doing this.

Another thing with couponing is that there is sometimes fraud involved. There are websites that these couponers use that give out fake coupons. When they are used the stores lose tons of money and cannot get reimbursed for these fake coupons. They can try and take the fraud couponing company to court, but that would take a lot of time and money. They probably would never recover the judgment money anyway.

There are even TV shows about extreme couponing. In my opinion these shows are encouraging people to beat the system. I am not saying they are encouraging fraud but they are still leaving people wide open to commit fraud by having some people on the shows who are clearly doing so. In my opinion, these shows need to be taken off immediately. The networks of course won't do that because its all about the money.

I saw on the news not too long ago that stores are now putting limits on coupons used. Of course you are getting a lot of individuals who are complaining about this. I think that the stores have every right to do this. They are loosing money and they need to stay in business. If you want to be bitter about that, then go find a store that still lets you to use hundreds of coupons for every trip you make. I will tell you though, that eventually all stores will have policies preventing excessive coupon use.

Using a few coupons during a shopping trip is not a bad thing. It is a good way to save a little bit of money. Please do not take advantage of it and help the economy out by spending money on your daily necessities.
