You might want to take some certification programs, which can give you some specialized knowledge and skills that you can use to get better jobs. However, as a forensic specialist in computers, you also have to consider other areas and training that might be important for your career beyond just technology. For example, many who are in the field will also have training in criminal justice. The more knowledge you have the better equipped you will be to do your job well.

When you get a job in the field, you should always look for ways to learn more on the job. In the first year or so after you complete your computer forensics training, you will probably find that your job has limited duties. You are still learning the ropes from the other specialists that are on your team. Instead of taking the easy way out and only doing the minimum amount of work, you should ask questions and offer to take on more responsibilities. This will give you the opportunity to learn more, and you will be able to prove that you are a valuable member of the team.
