The Blackberry Bold 9900 Offers Some Super Call Features - Technology - Cell Phones

The Blackberry Bold 9900 has been an incredible success since its release and has proven to be one of the most popular handsets ever released by RIM. Here we want to take a look at some of the more traditional features of this model such as the phone book and messaging facilities.Despite offering the very latest version of the Blackberry operating system it is pleasing to see that the phone book maintains the same functional layout that was offered on previous versions of the software. You have the option to display contents alphabetically by first name, surname or business name and along with these details you can choose which other recent activity is displayed on your list. When adding a new contact into your phone book you can place them into one of two categories which are personal and business. There is also the facility to create your own groups that may encompass other areas such as family and colleagues. When actually conducting a call on the Bold 9900 the quality is incredibly clear as you would expect from a Blackberry device. In addition to initiating a call via the phone book you can also use voice activated dialing or the excellent Smart Dial feature. This facility enables you to start typing a contacts name on the homescreen and a list of suggested people will appear. Thanks to the capacitive touchscreen you can then simply tap the picture or name of the person who you want to call.

A whole range of messaging services are covered by the Blackberry Bold 9900. In addition to the familiar e mail, SMS and MMS features the phone also come with a handful of IM applications installed. In order to make full use of the phones e mail features the user must subscribe to the Blackberry Internet Service but once you have done this you can enjoy facilities that rival any other smartphone. The e mail feature is very well organised with numerous customisation options including the ability to resize photographs and the option to create, edit and delete folders directly on the handset. When sending an SMS message a handy counter at the top of the display lets you know how many characters you have remaining and this changes to a data counter if you are compiling an MMS message. It is not only the software that makes this device perfect for messaging but also the fact that this is one of the few phones available that feature a full Qwerty keypad to help the speedy compos ition of all manner of messages.

The Blackberry Bold 9900 performs basic functions superbly. Often features such as messaging and calls are overlooked in favour of more cutting edge technology but is refreshing to see that this model excels at the basics as well as offering a wealth of newer facilities.

The Blackberry Bold 9900 and the iPhone 4S are available now.
